TRAUMA-INFORMED LEADERSHIP

One 3-Hour + One 4-Hour virtual session

Trauma-informed leadership is a training that takes a reality-based approach to working with staff and/or participants who have been impacted by trauma. With the popularization and misunderstanding of the roots, manifestation and impact of PTSD, the water has been considerably muddied with organizations attempting to be responsible and responsive to the impact of working with people who have been impacted by trauma of agency.

Trauma of agency (experiences inflicted on humans by other humans) is the most common and most impactful of traumatic experiences because the shock of being traumatized by another human being is further complicated by the shame related to many of these experiences. The normal course of recovery for trauma requires that survivors have the freedom to share their stories with their community (family, friends, organization). With traumas of agency, this communication is blocked by the shame associated with trauma. This training is focused on how to consciously create and sustain organizational and community cultures that foster the recovery of individuals as they reclaim their lives from a traumatic past. The training will also focus on practical self-care structures essential for people to foster their own healing and
recovery as well as modeling appropriate self-care for others.
